Longines Flagship Ref 102 34
Another nice watch from yesteryear... A stainless steel Longines Flagship ref 102 34, caliber 30 L. The 30L was a base movement. Not fancy, but reliable, capable of good accuracy, and easy to service.
Misc notes.
#1. Caliber 30L was in house
#2. When referring to what were the accuracy specs for this model out of the factory...when I say 5-7 secs I meant that perhaps a LOSS of this amount was acceptable.
#3. Among some of the parts that were returned to me...right below the generic crown is the winding stem. Other parts include the balance staff and misc parts associated with balance assembly. That bridge that was replaced holds the mainspring barrel and ratchet wheel.
#4. I meant to say "watch is not too small" not "not too big"
#4. If I did not mention it before in my other videos, I really like slower beat movements (ie 18000 vph). Personally I think service intervals can stretch a little longer than higher beat movements because there's less friction.
#5. One great thing about vintage watches is that many of the movements actually fit the case and vice versa (Don't need spacer ring). A lot of modern watches have cases that are a lot bigger than the movement.

Nomos is a "young" dynamic company producing high quality, simple, fun to wear watches in decent sizes, with in house movements, and very reasonably priced to boot. It occured to me that I forgot to demonstrate how to operate the watch. As you might have known, the winding crown's position as shown in winding. Crown is extracted ou...

A Hamilton c. 1948. This timepiece had a full service recently. In addition to a movement overhaul; 1. mainspring was replaced 2. new crystal installed 3. crown was replaced (the replacement is correct for this model as was the crown that came with the watch but the latter was somewhat worn out) 3. the refinished dial was replaced with an original (not NOS but in decent condition) 4. in additio...

Today we examine one of Vostok's iconic timepieces, the Komandirskie or "Commander's" watch. Durable, inexpensive, and a lot of dial variants to choose from. correction: With reference to the bezel, I meant to say chrome plating over base metal NOT brass. re: the movement is non hacking.

The SKX 173 from Seiko is an excellent example of a good quality divers watch at a modest price point. The example in this video dates from c. Dec 2004. As an interesting aside as to how tough it is my poor watch suffered thru the following: 1. fell off a nighstand (the floor was carpeted) 2. it was dropped accidently onto the floor while I was sitting on a bus. 3. I once tumbled down 3 steps r...

Description An examination of a vintage Tissot Seastar. My dad purchased this watch in the late 60's and wore it daily for about 18 years. I believe the watch stopped running at that time and/or the strap was broken (?) at which time he ceased wearing it and passed it on to me. I left it neglected for a number of years, but eventually had the watch serviced, and strap replaced.

Definitely after-market hands. Plus, there is no fading of the lume on both hands and minute markers. This is odd given the fact that it is circa 1978-79.

Hey, not sure if you’d see this, but I wanted to ask if you ever changed the battery on your own? I got the exact same one off eBay, wasn’t running when it arrived and I took the caseback off. Had a spare 721SW laying around so I popped that in. However, the battery does not sit inside nicely and keeps jumping out. Is there a latch of some sort? I don’t see one on mine.

I have a 6309-7049 which was purchased in Canada in 1981. The watch is all original, except for the bracelet, and has never been serviced or even opened. I have used it on a daily basis for this entire time. The day is displayed in English and French. To answer one of your questions, there is no notch appearing in the points of the arrow shaped minute hand. I am no expert but the face and hands appear to be largely identical.

First saw this watch on Tom Cruise's wrist in the film "Vanilla Sky" way back in 2001. Learned from a men's magazine at the time (GQ, Esquire, Maxim, etc.) that it was an IWC. Had not heard of the brand and was shocked to learn that was was over $5k at the time. I could not afford it even at half the price. But, I loved the simple dial and it stayed on my mind for several years. It is still a very handsome watch today. Nice video.

EZM1 - very expensive today(!) Got the cheaper EZM3 about 15 yrs ago. The bezel now rotates in both directions. Got a lot of scratches. Got the second mechanic and the glas got scratches and anti reflection if not in got condition. Wearing comfort could be better. Still like the decent tool design and the understatement. Modern classics anyway - also have a look at the EZM 13.1 Not perfect those watches but with character 😊
